Flamingo Gardens Garden Club was formed in 2025 in conjunction with the Flamingo Gardens Horticulture Department under the guidance of Horticulture Director Chris Maler and Botanical Curator Amy Rielly! The Garden Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month, bringing together gardening enthusiasts to learn about local gardening techniques and sustainable practices. It’s a great opportunity to connect with fellow plant lovers, share knowledge, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for South Florida’s unique flora.

Upcoming 2026 Meeting Dates:

July 1st Meeting
The Art of Kokedama
with Edwin Sandoval of Ritzy Blooms

At this month’s meeting Edwin Sandoval of Ritzy Blooms will present: The Art of Kokedama: A Live Botanical Demonstration

Join us for a live botanical experience with Edwin Sandoval, founder of Ritzy Blooms, a Fort Lauderdale-based floral and plant design studio known for refined and artistic arrangements.

In this hands-on style presentation, Edwin will demonstrate the art of Kokedama, a Japanese-inspired technique where plants are transformed into sculptural moss-wrapped forms. You will see the full process from start to finish, along with tips on plant selection, materials, and care.

A Kokedama offers a different way to display plants, one that feels more natural and connected to the space around it. Each piece continues to grow and evolve over time.

At the end of the presentation, three attendees will be selected to take home a Kokedama, including the one created live during the demonstration. This is a great opportunity to learn something new, experience a live demonstration, and take-home inspiration.

The Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month. The meetings are held in the Mary N. Porter Learning Center at 6:30pm for meet & greet with the meeting proper starting at 7pm.
