100 Years, 10 Stops is a garden-wide interpretive experience celebrating Flamingo Gardens’ Centennial and the people, plants, animals, and pivotal moments that have shaped its first 100 years.
Ten specially designed stops located throughout the Gardens invite visitors to travel through time—from Floyd and Jane Wray’s arrival in South Florida and the establishment of their citrus grove in 1927 to the evolution of Flamingo Gardens into the botanical garden, Everglades wildlife sanctuary, and cultural landmark it is today.
At each stop, historic photographs, archival materials, personal stories, artifacts, and multimedia elements including audio and video will bring a different chapter of the Flamingo Gardens story to life. The experience connects history to the actual places where it happened, allowing guests to discover how the property, its gardens, wildlife programs, and surrounding South Florida community have changed over the course of a century. For children, a companion Centennial scavenger hunt will give children their own way to experience the journey.
Together, the ten stops tell a larger story of legacy, preservation, adaptation, and stewardship—honoring the vision of those who came before while inspiring visitors of all ages to consider their own role in the next 100 years of Flamingo Gardens.
