Davie, FL – – – A larger-than-life, interactive outdoor art experience is coming to Flamingo Gardens! David Rogers’ Big Bugs: The Pollinators showcases spectacular sculptures of insects and pollinators—created from natural and reclaimed forest materials—installed throughout the Gardens. These striking pieces highlight the vital role that bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, beetles, and other pollinators play in our ecosystems and food systems, making the invisible world of pollination visible and unforgettable.
Exhibit Features:
- Large-scale sculptures. Made from wood, branches and other natural materials
- Teaches the importance of pollinators and why protecting them is essential for healthy ecosystems
- Big Bug sculptures are placed throughout the Gardens to invite discovery around every turn
Big Bug Weekend Activities include:
- Meet & touch some interesting insects and other creatures by Beyond the Swamp
- Beyond the Swamp educational exhibits & presentations
- Live Music by Michael Kennedy from 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Kids’ Corner Buggy Make-and-Take activity from 11am – 3pm
- Insect crocheted craft vendor
- Pollinator Plants for sale by H&H Bamboo
- Info from the Broward Beekeepers Association from 11am – 3pm
Big Bug activities, Gallery exhibits, specialty weekend programing, Animal Specialist Talks, Wildlife Encounter presentations, Wray Home Museum, Butterfly Conservatory, and Narrated Tram Tour are included in admission price. Admission tickets may be purchased online or on-site in the Welcome Center/Gift Shop.
Admission:
- $24 for ages 12+
- $17 for ages 3-11
- Flamingo Gardens members, 2026 South Florida Adventure Pass holders, and children 2 and younger are free.
